B.SC in Medical Instrumentation & Critical Care Technology is a well in demand course. Services of a critical care technologist are highly desired in every hospital and healthcare unit. Critical care technologist has a variety of roles to play and they work in different healthcare settings. They take care of the equipment and the monitoring devices that are used by patients requiring intensive care or are in a critical condition. They ensure that the equipment and the life support system attached to a critical care patient are all functioning correctly. Most of these medical devices such as CAT scanners, dialysis machines, etc. are set by the critical care technologists. The critical care technologist identifies malfunctioning as well as performs maintenance checks and calibrations if required. The critical care technologist often provides support to the nursing and other paramedical staff in the use of the critical care instruments/equipment and even helps them how to monitor.

Programme Objective
  • The students in the B.Sc. in Medical Instrumentation & Critical Care Technology program at SKFGI would have to undergo a rigorous academic engagement with parallel exposure to Hospitals/Nursing Homes/Healthcare units for real time learning. The students would be able to learn about setting up medical equipment, monitoring the equipment, recording the data and providing the data to the physicians. The students will be taught on the working of medical devices, maintenance activities and if required calibrating them. This course at SKFGI prepares the students to demonstrate all necessary skills of a critical care technologist and also demonstrate professional outlook towards current needs in critical health care management.
